Privacy policy

What data remocast collects, what it uses it for, who sees it and how you can access, correct or delete it.

This is a translation provided for convenience. The Spanish version is the legally binding one, and in case of any difference between the two, the Spanish version prevails. This document is governed by the laws of the Republic of Colombia.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The controller of your personal data is remocast.space (Colombia). You can write to us at privacidad@remocast.space about any privacy matter.

This policy is governed by Colombian Law 1581 of 2012, Decree 1377 of 2013 (incorporated into Decree 1074 of 2015) and the other Colombian rules on personal data protection (habeas data).

2. What data we process

What you give us when you create your account

  • Name: the name others see above your avatar in rooms.
  • Email address: to sign in and identify your account.
  • Password: we never store it as is. We only keep an encrypted fingerprint made with the scrypt algorithm and a unique salt, so not even we can read it.
  • Account creation date and the date you accepted these documents.

What you create and upload

  • Your rooms: the decoration the host sets up (walls, table, chairs, frames, windows, TVs).
  • Images: the photo you put on your avatar's face, the images in frames, photos on the table, shirt prints and channel logos.
  • Videos you upload to play on a room's TV.
  • Your profile: your channels (name, bio and logo), your saved sets and your outfits.
  • Your avatar's look: colors, hairstyle, clothes and accessories.

What is generated when you use the service

  • While you are in a room: your seat at the table, whether your microphone is muted, your reactions and your voice level (a number that moves the avatar's mouth). This data only travels live and is not stored.
  • Technical data any web server receives, such as your IP address and browser type, needed to connect you.

We do not ask for sensitive data. If you choose to upload a photo of your face, you do so voluntarily and can remove it whenever you want.

3. Your voice, calls and recordings

remocast does not record or store your voice on its servers. Audio goes straight from your browser to the other participants' browsers using WebRTC. Our server only helps browsers find each other (signaling) and relays your voice level so your avatar's mouth moves on everyone else's screen.

To set up the connection, browsers query public STUN servers from Google and Cloudflare, which see the IP addresses needed to connect but not the content of the call.

The analysis of your microphone that animates the mouth happens inside your own browser.

Studio recordings. A room's host can record the studio: the 3D image of the room and the avatars, with the voices of all participants, without the interface. The recording is made in the host's browser and the video file stays on their device; it does not go through our servers and we do not keep it. While recording, everyone in the room sees the notice «Recording the studio». Whoever records is responsible for having the participants' consent and for how the file is used.

4. What we use your data for

  • Creating and maintaining your account and signing you in.
  • Showing your avatar, your name and what you share to the people who are with you in a room.
  • Saving your rooms, sets, outfits and channels so they are there when you come back.
  • Keeping the service secure, preventing abuse and handling reports.
  • Answering your requests and telling you about important changes to the service or to these documents.

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

5. Cookies

We use two technical cookies. rc_sesion keeps you signed in: it is httpOnly (the page's code cannot read it), lasts 30 days and is deleted when you sign out; without it you could not access your account. rc_langremembers the language you view remocast in (Spanish, English or Portuguese) and lasts one year. If you have an account, the language you choose is also saved in it.

We do not use analytics, advertising or third-party cookies. The browser also stores some preferences locally (for example, the last decoration you saw) so the page loads faster; that stays on your device.

6. Who it is shared with

  • The people in your room: they see your name, your avatar (including your face photo and prints if you use them), your reactions, and hear your voice if your microphone is on. What the host puts in the room (images and videos) is seen by anyone who joins with the link.
  • Providers that make the service work: the hosting provider where our servers run, the STUN servers mentioned above, and Google Fonts, from which the browser downloads the typefaces. Some of these providers may be outside Colombia; in that case the transfer is made only to provide the service and with providers that offer adequate levels of protection.
  • Authorities, only when a law or a court order requires it.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account data and what you created for as long as the account exists. If you ask us to delete it, we delete your account, your sessions and your profile. The rooms you created as host, with their images and videos, can also be deleted on request. What only travels live (voice, voice level, reactions) is not stored on our servers; recordings made by a host stay only on their device.

8. Security

Passwords are stored encrypted with scrypt, the session travels in a cookie the page's code cannot read, and in production all communication is encrypted over HTTPS. No system is infallible: if we detect an incident affecting your data, we will let you know and report it to the Colombian Superintendence of Industry and Commerce as the law requires.

9. Your rights

As the owner of your data you can:

  • Know what data of yours we hold and what we use it for.
  • Update and correct incomplete or wrong data.
  • Request proof of the authorization you gave us.
  • Revoke the authorization and ask for your data to be deleted, when there is no legal duty to keep it.
  • Access your data free of charge.
  • File complaints with the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), after having made your request to us.

10. How to exercise your rights

Write to us at privacidad@remocast.space from your account's email address, saying what you need. If you are writing on behalf of someone else, attach the document that authorizes you.

  • Inquiries (finding out what data we hold): we answer within 10 business days at most, extendable by 5 more business days if we tell you why.
  • Claims (correcting, deleting, revoking): we answer within 15 business days at most, extendable by 8 more business days if we tell you why. If the claim is incomplete, we will ask you for what is missing within the following 5 days.

You can change some data yourself at any time from your account: your avatar, your channels, sets and outfits.

11. Minors

remocast is meant for people over 14 years old. If you are between 14 and 17, you may only create an account with the authorization of your mother, father or legal guardian, who is responsible for your use of the service. We chose this age because in rooms people talk live with others and share images. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 14, or to a minor without authorization, we will delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child created an account, write to us.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change something important (for example, a new purpose or a new type of data), we will let you know by email or when you enter the service before the change applies. The date of the last update appears at the top and bottom of this page.
